Object-Oriented Approaches to Geo-Referenced Information

چکیده

This paper surveys the current state of the object-oriented paradigm as it applies to the handling of geo-referenced information. The model of any computerized system is multi-layered, with a high-level system-independent conceptual model of the application domain supported by increasingly system-oriented models beneath. The author argues that object-oriented approaches can be taken at each of these layers. The major constructs of object-orientation are discussed from this layered viewpoint and in the context of geo-information handling.

Image - based highly interactive Web mapping for geo - referenced data publishing 1

This paper describes an image-based technique that enables highly interactive Web choropleth maps for geo-referenced data publishing and visual exploration. Geographic knowledge is encoded into raster images and delivered to the client, instead of in vector formats. Differing from traditional raster-imagebased approaches that are static and allow very little user interaction, it allows varietie...

A Portable Multi-sensor System for Geo-referenced Image Sequences

The demand of high-resolution spatial information such as geo-referenced images and realistic 3D models is rapidly increasing. Most existing systems to acquire such information involve expensive platforms such as manned or unmanned, air or ground vehicles to obtain high-resolution images and GPS/IMU data. Thanks to the availability of small image acquisition devices and light-weighted MEMS GPS/...

A Conceptual Modeling Language for Spatiotemporal Applications

This paper presents a conceptual modeling language for spatiotemporal applications that offers built-in support for capturing geo-referenced, time-varying information. More specifically, the well-known object-oriented Unified Modeling Language (UML) is extended to capture the semantics of space and time as they appear in spatiotemporal applications. Language clarity and simplicity is maintained...

A BIM-Oriented Model for supporting indoor navigation requirements

Existing indoor navigation approaches such as navigation based on 2D geometries and pre-defined routing remain insufficient for many applications such as emergency response, delivery, utility maintenance, facility management and so on. The insufficiencies caused by existing navigation approaches can be overcome by using the advanced geometric and semantic information included in intelligent bui...

Interactive Auditory Data Exploration: A Framework and Evaluation with Geo-referenced Data Sonification

We describe an Action-by-Design-Component (ADC) framework to guide auditory interface designers for exploratory data analysis. The framework characterizes data interaction in the auditory mode as a set of Auditory Information Seeking Actions (AISAs). Contrasting AISAs with actions in visualizations, the framework also discusses design considerations for a set of Design Components to support AIS...
